The ancestors of William Blezard emigrated from England in 1819. Imagine the world they found. After several other short stops, in 1822 Anthony Blezard moved onto a plot of land in Hamilton Township. Over the years he increased his holdings to 200 acres and his family grew to one son – William, and six daughters. After living in the original log cabin for years, in 1858 William built this stone home on one of the parcels. The stone masonry was done by Reginald Thomas Dodge and the carpentry by James Lydgate, both from the Baltimore area. When Anthony died in 1876, he directed William to provide for his mother and six sisters. A wish that was honoured. The family lived on the land until 1958.

This is classic home is made of Field Stone. The stones they found on the farm …. Imagine.
It sits on approximately 68 acres with mixed hardwood, rolling landscape, valley with spring fed creek and incredible elevated views from high points on the property along the Lake Ontario shoreline. Many original features remain. This home has been used as a set for the popular series Murdock Mysteries. You really need to see it to appreciate it.
