This classic stone homestead 1847, was one of only 3 built in old Reach Township (now Scugog) when there were only 40 families in the area. The stones were butterfly cut from the granite boulders uncovered when the land was cleared by the pioneer family of John Dobson, originally from Yorkshire England.
