This L-shaped two story Stone building, known as the John Polk Store, was built ca. 1892 as a general store and living residence. In 1920 a 2 story addition was built on to the southwest wing, that bacame the post office in 1934.
A substantial building by any measure, this fine structure has endured the decades gracefully and has always been a central point in the village. It was operated by John and Carl Polk until 1970.
For the last 30 years it had been lovingly cared for as it became a fine residence and home to two artists who converted the store and post office into great studios. The potential for these spaces was unlimited.
